"Sue Schroeder presented the most convincing and path breaking performance of CORE Performance Company I have seen to date; I left the theatre impressed with the dancers' versatility and the imaginative range and depth of the collaborative pieces." Johannes Birringer, Public News

CORE Performance Company, under the artistic direction of Sue Schroeder approaching its 30th Season of creating and performing riveting and passionate work. With homes in Atlanta, Georgia and Houston, Texas, CORE is a repertory company made up of individual artists, inviting guest choreographers to work and create new projects. Known for its intimate and original choreography, CORE creates work that evolves through experimentation, improvisation, and collaboration with artists from different mediums.

Performing the work of Artistic Director, Sue Schroeder, as well as guest choreographers including Beppie Blankert, Polly Motley, Alicia Sánchez, Ellen Bromberg, Bill Evans, Jacalyn Carley, Tanzcompagnie Rubato, Bill Young and John Mead, CORE maintains a strong profile as a contemporary dance company through their diverse body of multi-layered work.

CORE’s company of 5 dancers is available to tour THREE, an evening of dynamic, impassioned dances commissioned for the CORE dancers by well-known national and international women choreographers Beppie Blankert (Netherlands), Polly Motley (US) and Alicia Sánchez (Mexico). Also available is the cross-cultural multimedia performance piece, Corazón Abriendo (Heart Opening), based on the artists’ “immersion” residencies in the highlands and rainforests of Chiapas, Mexico. And rounding out the current repertory is the highly acclaimed Messiah, an evening-length dance to Handel’s famous oratorio with live music performed on period instruments.

CORE Performance Company has toured extensively, performing nationally in such venues as Mission Dance (San Francisco), Arizona State University West (Phoenix), Cleveland Performance Art Festival, Dallas Museum of Art, Hobby Center for the Performing Arts (Houston), Kathryn Bache Miller Theatre, Columbia University (NYC), Merce Cunningham Studio Theatre (NYC), Rialto Center for the Arts at Georgia State University and Woodruff Arts Center (Atlanta).
