Several Dancers Core presents the Fall 2009 session of Fieldwork, a creative workshop series that brings artists together to show their developing works and exchange feedback on a weekly basis. Fieldwork sessions are designed for artists working in various disciplines including Dance, Theater, and Writing. The Fieldwork method originated in New York over 20 years ago, and Several Dancers Core has been offering Fieldwork workshops for the Houston arts community since 1992. The workshops will provide support, structure, and community to help artists immerse themselves fully in their creative work. The feedback method reveals how each piece is perceived by others and provides detailed information that helps artists hone their vision. By focusing on what's happening in the work and how those choices shape the work, Fieldwork supports autonomy and authorship of each artist. The facilitator for Fall 2009 will be Lydia Hance, dancer with Suchu Dance and formerly with Ad Deum Dance Company, teacher with SDC's Dynamic X-Change Healing Arts program and independent choreographer. The session begins Wednesday, September 9 and continues weekly through November 11. The informal showcase will be held on Sunday, November 15. For those interested in learning more about Fieldwork before registering, you may attend the first session on September 9 free of charge.
