Description:
Several Dancers Core initiated the Field Forward Network in 1992, which brings programming developed by The Field (NYC) to 16 cities across the US. The Field is a nonprofit artist service organization that offers workshops and other support services for independent artists.
Fieldwork is a rigorous weekly workshop designed to help artists of all disciplines gather information about their work. For ten weeks, artists show developing work(s) and receive honest, non-directive feedback from their peers. Fieldwork sessions are guided by an experienced facilitator who is also creating work.
At the end of the ten weeks, artists emerge with an increased ability to articulate their vision and work that has been informed by diverse feedback. Fieldwork is for independent artists who would like to break through the isolation of working alone and who are interested in growing their work with a supportive circle of peer artists.
The work group culminates in an informal work-in-progress showing.
