CORE Performance Company to showcase at APAP

CORE will showcase a section of Corazon Abierto at the Association of Performing Arts Presenters Conference, Jan. 21-23, 2006 in New York City. The conference is held annually to help venues round out their seasons by giving represented artists opportunity to showcase their work.

"Lunchtime in the Studio" on January 18

The January “Lunchtime” session on “The Chiapas Project” gives community members an opportunity to experience behind-the-scenes aspects of CORE Performance Company’s collaborative creative process, especially in connection with the new piece, Corazon Abierto: Heart Open, a multimedia performance piece based on the weaving traditions of the Mayan people in Chiapas, Mexico. Collaborating artists, Susan Mendez Prins, co-choreographer and Terrance Karn, composer, will be present because they are in Atlanta for a work period on the piece.

Spring Fieldwork workshop

Fieldwork will have a new format for Spring 2006. Artists interested in participating will have a choice between attending sessions Tuesday or Wednesday nights. The two groups will meet separately, then meet together, then perform in the showcase together at the end.
