Lunchtime in the Studio
moves to Fridays
Lunchtime in the Studio will be changing days in 2007. No longer on the third Wednesday of the month, this interactive free performance will be moved to the first Fridays of every other month in CORE Performance Company's season. This first installment at the new time took place on January 5, 2007. The subsequent events will be held March 2 and May 4. March's event will be on the topic of "Artist as Educator" and the company will discuss their programming for school-age children. Lunch is donated by Sweet Melissa's and Brick Store Pub.

Spring Fieldwork offered for independent artists
SDC and Emory University Dance Program offer Spring Fieldwork workshop beginning February 21. Fieldwork is for artists in any discipline creating new work to show the work and receive feedback from their peers. Meeting weekly, the workshop offers independent artists the support of a structured but flexible environment for developing their art, whether it is dance, music, theater, writing or multi-media.

SDC Intern: Stefany Bireline
Stefany Bireline is an intern who came to us all the way from Adair, IA. She has danced for 19 years with various studios in Iowa and has continued her passion for dance through college dance team, dance conventions throughout the country, and competitions earning various awards. She has focused on ballet, tap, and jazz but is interested in the exploration of modern dance.
Stef is in her senior year at Buena Vista University studying Corporate Communications and Business Management. Throughout her college career she has been active with the Dance Team leading them to the first ever Iowa State Competition, receiving a division I rating. She will graduate in May with a bachelor’s degree and is aspiring entering the world of dance.
“My experience with SDC has been very beneficial and it is interesting to explore the non-profit side of business. I have learned a lot that will never be forgotten. Thank you to everyone who helped me do so.”
