Dynamic X-Change on break until the new year

Happy New Year!!

Several Dancers Core wishes you a very happy and healthy 2008! In 2007, we had a year of growth in many areas of the organization. We added partners for Dynamic X-Change, added Molly Schneider Perez as a new company member and added the foundations for new dances with commissioned choreographers from around the world.

It was a creative year in 2007 for CORE Performance Company, working with new choreographers Alicia Sanchez and Beppie Blankert. Their new works will continue being formed in 2008, as will a new site-based work for the Bayou City Art Festival in March, a work based on the exhibition of paintings by John Alexander at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston in April, and a Polka Party event at Miller Outdoor Theatre in early June. We also hope you will join us for Arias from Messiah on March 9. See more info below about this exciting collaboration.

CORE Performance Company showcases at APAP

CORE Performance Company travels to New York City in January to showcase one of their newest works-in-progress, Cumulus. Choreographer Beppie Blankert from Amsterdam has worked with the dancers to create this rich movement piece set to the music of Charles Ives and poetry of e.e. cummings, which examines emotions in a physical form. Blankert asked the dancers to bring picture books for visual inspiration, from which they formed a vocabulary of movement. As the title “Cumulus” suggests, the process was an accumulation of ideas, which are framed by the music of Ives. For more information on Blankert, visit her website linked below.
