CORE travels to Chiapas, Mexico

CORE Performance Company, led by Artistic Director, Sue Schroeder, along with composer, Terrance Karn, travel on their second visit to Chiapas, Mexico to continue work on the new piece, Corazon Abierto, which is based on Mayan weaving traditions. They will be joined by video artist, Maya Ciarrocchi, who will record the dancers performing at the site of ancient Mayan ruins and in the rainforest. The footage will then be incorporated into the performance.

CORE will premiere a new section of the piece, Woven Clouds, as part of Dance Month programming at the Jewish Community Center of Houston, January 28-29, 2006.

CORE "blogs" in Chiapas

While the company is creating the new piece, Corazon Abierto, in Chiapas, they will be sharing thoughts and impressions (and maybe even photos) of their experiences on an online journal or "blog" where you can read and respond to their posts. Find out how a cultural immersion becomes an evening-length multimedia dance piece!
