Corazón Abriendo (Heart Opening)
Several Dancers Core presents CORE Performance Company in the Houston premiere of Corazón Abriendo (Heart Opening) at the Heinen Theatre at HCC, Friday and Saturday, November 17-18 at 8 p.m. Corazón Abriendo (Heart Opening) is a portal that transports the audience into the vivid, lush atmosphere of the highlands and rainforests of Chiapas, Mexico through a multimedia “cloth” of dance, sculpture, video, and music expertly woven together. Echoes of ancient civilizations overlap with the energy of modern life as the artistic sensibilities of contemporary dancers meld with the traditional weaving arts of the Mayan people.

CORE Performance Company Tours
CORE Performance Company premiered Corazón Abriendo (Heart Opening) in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, Mexico, on October 24, 2006. The company was excited to be a part of arts festivals in two more cities in Mexico before returning to the US. They will be performing a selection from the piece at Texas A&M this Sunday, November 5 at 7:30 pm as part of the Modern Dance Collective showing (this date has changed from Saturday to Sunday due to football broadcast schedules.)
