CORE Performance Company performs “Visual as Experience” Houston--May 1, 2007The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston presents CORE Performance Company in “Visual as Experience” as part of the museum’s Artful Thursdays on May 10, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. The performance will take place in and around the exhibition of Contemporary Art from the Diane and Bruce Halle Collection. Representing the highlights of the past three decades of Latin American art, the exhibition focuses on the importance of performance in the visual arts. Navigating the gallery space with a riveting performance, CORE Performance Company will respond to the diverse and complex styles, movements and genres represented in the Diane and Bruce Halle Collection of Latin American Art. Engaging the human body while exploring the performative in the visual arts, CORE Performance Company creates a visceral experience of the poetic universes embodied in the exhibition. “Artful Thursdays” at the MFAH explore art in a friendly, informal atmosphere. Special performances such as this by CORE Performance Company and other events surrounding the museum’s exhibitions including literary readings, behind-the-scene talks, walking tours and concerts, highlight art at the MFAH. Made up of individual artists, the company performs new choreography that evolves through an intentional collaboration of experimentation and improvisation with artists from different mediums.
